Description: Sphere gap assemblies are designed and fabricated as per IS 1876 / 1961, which lays all constructional details and limitations for the unit. This method is however a recognised one for measuring high voltage in DC or AC or Impulse type voltage. construction Two spheres of equal shape and size are made from brass or copper sheets, polished to have mirror finish. The distance adjustment is manual or motorised depending upon the size and choice of customer. For manual adjustments, the vernier-scaled dial is provided to have better accuracy and resolution for setting required gaps. For motorised unit, the gaps are set by motor and the indication is determined on large circular indicator. For obtaining constant repeatable results an irradiation source can also be supplied if required by the customer.
